About us - Partland and The Cover Company

We started in the Car Parts and Accessories business in 1970, working in various sectors until Partland was started in 1983.

Even in the early days, we gained a reputation for sourcing hard to get items. Throughout our history, it has often been heard "I have been told you can help, no one else can." More times than not we are able to fulfil where others could not. We were sending orders to New Zealand and Zambia, for example, long before the Internet came along.

Over the years we have developed specialities borne out of our knowledge that significant groups of our customers were not able to find what they wanted. The Car Accessory business was famous for discounting to the bone. Quality and fit for the purpose were secondary. We realised that many were fed up with that approach and were unable to buy an item of sufficient quality to do the job required.

We were the first in Herefordshire to stock Roof Boxes and associated accessories. They were supplied in kit form and we spent many hours bolting them together. This began our intimate understanding of the equipment. At the time, most of our customers thought them to be related to Daleks or something similar.

Van Roof Racks followed shortly after. Local tradesmen were fed up with buying so called 'heavy duty' bar kits only to find that they developed an elegant U shape when the first seriously heavy load was applied. There are vans travelling our patch with bars fitted twelve or fourteen years ago. They are discoloured but they are still straight. In the 90's, vehicle thievery expanded our range into van security. Our range is constantly developing to suit customer's requirements. Tradesmen and Contractors return to us every time they renew vehicles. They trust our judgment and they trust our honesty.

Similar frustrations led to our entry into the Car Cover market. The Accessory Shop Car Cover comes in small, medium or large. They are purely based on length and take no account of the vehicle profile or shape. Many also claim to be totally waterproof, which if true, will cause more damage than not putting a cover on in the first place. The fit of such covers is usually unsatisfactory on a lot of cars. Our range has been selected to provide customer satisfaction at price points to suit all budgets.

We do not apologise for the fact that you are not looking at a site with moving banners, pop-up gismos and an all singing and dancing on-line ordering system. We are dealing with highly specialised products and recognise that many view and need advice to determine what suits their needs best. We would rather talk to you, by phone or email, to guide you to the product you need, not the price that suits us.

Successful businesses thrive on repeat custom. We are based in cattle country and the only bullshit that survives around here is firmly stuck to the ground. A significant proportion of our customer base goes back to the 1970's.
